Pope Benedict XVI will host landmark Catholic-Muslim talks in November to improve ties between the two religions.
The announcement was made in a joint statement after a two-day meeting between senior Vatican and Muslim leaders in Rome. The now infamous year old Regensburg speech, promoted 138 Muslim scholars from 43 countries to launch an appeal to the Pope for greater theological dialogue, called ‘The Common Word’. This unprecedented document was organised by the Royal Al-Bayt Institute, Jordan. Since then the number of signatories to the appeal has grown to more than 245 (and rising).
The joint statement said the first Catholic-Muslim summit would be held in Rome on 4-6th November and would involve 24 religious leaders and scholars from each side. It said the Pope would address the meeting on the themes of “Love of God, Love of Neighbour”, “Theological and Spiritual Foundation” and “Human Dignity and Mutual Respect”. Below is the document in PDF format.

Salaams everyone,
Even though this document has been around for six months, it wasn’t well reported by various media outlets. This document is beautifully presented and lays the foundation of peace and mutual agreement. The strong support by mainstream Islamic scholars also adds to its credibility worldwide. enjoy
ooo interesting!
I’m 100% for it…although I wish that Protestants would be keen to have the same kinda dialouge with Muslims *_*
